Reflection Report #5
“Elements of Creative Story Writing and Script Design”

I. Details of the event/activity

Last December 15 2022, a webinar is held by Studio Pyros from Gordon College. The webinar is called, “Elements of Creative Story Writing and Script Design.” The speaker for this event is none other than the CE of Studio Pyros, Ms. Angel Rose E. Fernando and she is also a storywriter and script maker.

II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

Ms. Angel Rose E. Fernando discussed about the elements of creative story writing and script design in which she discussed each element that are part of a story.

She broke it down with the 3 elements of a storyline which are the characters, conflict and elements.

She also gave insight and tips on how to effectively write a story as it is something overlooked or people think that story writing is dead when in fact it is an important factor in creating things that we love like the plot of our favorite movies, tv shows, video games, etc. For me, it helps as a starting point for visualization, when you read something you start to see an image in your head when you look at the right words to describe a scene or a character.

III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)

In the industry, you will be able to use your skills as a scriptwriter and story creator for various things, because as we know it draws people’s attention when a story is good and enjoyable. Something like books, to this day is still a popular way to take in a story and for people to still like reading is because of how everything was well thought of and captivates people and keep wanting more and that’s why the book industry is not dead. Another example that uses a lot of story writing are films. The whole visualization of the film would not have existed if no one thought of the idea of how the story will flow, and how the characters are portrayed. Story writing is a skillset that can be honed and used so many things to this day.

IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)

My positive feedback for this event is that it was explained clearly and it was also a nice touch to break the points into different parts so that we are able to follow clearly. It is also good that the speaker uses examples by the use of other works such as films and tv shows that shows the keynotes of a story.

V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities

The only improvement needed is that some of the parts could be explained more and that there were questions that weren’t able to be answered right due to the interpretation but that’s about it since the speaker is deemed knowledgeable about the subject she is explaining.

VI. Photos/Videos taken
